Moving to Dreamwidth
Hey all,
This blog is moving to Dreamwidth from here on in.
Inasmuch as I wish the folks at Posterous the best with their experiment here, I've had some problems with
1) Their reliability: I realize I'm not their target audience, but their post formatter makes it tough on those of use who want to edit straight HTML. Moreover, the editor's been flat busted for me on several occasions, leaving me unable to edit posts to clean them up.
2) Their transparency: Back in December, they parnered with Viglink, a service which adds a Posterous affiliate code to links in your blog. They didn't see fit to inform their users of this change; one of the Posterous founders replied on HackerNews, but they haven't mentioned it on their official blog or twitter stream.
Dreamwidth has always been rock-solid for me. The people who founded it did so because they wanted a blogging service that embraced transparency, inclusiveness, and open source, and my interactions with them have borne this out.
From here on in, then: http://rickscott.dreamwidth.org/. See you there!
